About Campbell California, CA.
Campbell, California is 4 miles S of Santa Clara, California and 4
miles SW of San Jose, California. It’s located in Santa Clara county. It’s not a
primary high-tech city but it is part of the well known Silicon Valley. Campbell
is the original location of the well known internet company, eBay. It’s
primarily a residential community. Approximately one-third of the town was
included in the 1839 Alta Rancho Rinconada de Los Gatos land grant. The city was
established by Benjamin Campbell. In 1851 Campbell purchased land and produced
hay and grain. In 1878 a railroad company purchased Campbell’s acreage. By 1887
the first subdivision was constructed. The city included numerous canneries and
fruit packing facilities and became a prominent shipping center for the fruit
produced in the region. The Campbell Fruit Grower’s Union was a prominent
cooperative. Over the years, the fruit orchards were replaced with homes and
businesses. The city was incorporated in 1952. The downtown features numerous
shops, restaurants, antique stores, art galleries, coffee houses and nightlife.
Campbell Prune Festival features rides, a wide variety of food and crafts.
Summer Concert Series at the Orchard City Green offers a wide variety of music.
Some of the notable attractions in the area include the Children’s Discovery
Museum, Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum, The Winchester Mystery House and the Tech
